Red Nose Day is a charitable initiative that first started more than 25 years ago in the United Kingdom, with the mission of using entertainment to raise funds to lift kids out of poverty and keep them safe, healthy and educated. Since its inception, Red Nose Day has raised more than $1 billion globally. Last year, Red Nose Day was brought to the United States for the first time with an all-star TV special on NBC and a partnership with Walgreens.
The second-annual, two-hour television special aired the evening of Thursday, May 26, and raised more than $30 million. The show featured appearances by stars including Elton John, Julia Roberts and Paul Rudd. Besides donating during the show, viewers and consumers were encouraged to visit their local Walgreen’s or Duane Reade to purchase their own red noses and start their own “fun-raising” campaigns.
The Joester Loria Group joined in the fun to help kids in need. Red Nose Day is a great opportunity to come together, have fun and make a difference for kids. The Joester Loria Group loves supporting this innovative way to give back and is proud to support this cause for the second year in a row.
Half of the funds raised by Red Nose Day 2016 will be used to help American children, while the other half will be distributed to some of the poorest communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Charity partners who will receive funds include The Boys & Girls Club, Feeding America, OXFAM and Save The Children.
